Student Spotlight – Alexis Ramberg, Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
Tell us more about yourself & your background?
Hi! My name is Alexis and I am 24. A little about myself and how I got into OTA is when I was 15, I had a traumatic brain injury. I had an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) which caused a stroke. I was in an induced coma for about 4 weeks. When I finally woke up, I went to inpatient rehab for 5 weeks. Even after I returned home, I continued outpatient care for another 2 years. After being an athlete and a top student, I was left paralyzed on the right side of my body. I had to relearn all my life skills. I had physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy to help me on my journey to recovery and I appreciate everything they did. Now, I want to express my gratitude and share my motivations for this field. This life-changing experience will allow me to change and help people recover/live with trauma and disability.
