What is a Surgical Technologist?

A surgical technologist supports surgeons during surgical procedures in operating rooms. During school, they learn the theory and application of sterile techniques, medical terminology, human anatomy, and surgical procedures. Surgical technologists are responsible for preparing the operating room and helping surgeons during the hygiene portion of a surgical procedure. Step #3: Apply for the Certification

A surgical technologist with a diploma and some work experience can apply for the certification offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. After passing the exam, you achieve the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) moniker.
