Notable Feats of the LA Food Bank
The LA Food Bank’s vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles county, and their mission- “mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community”-is fulfilled by educating the public and through community support. Here is a little more information about what they do and how they do it:
- The 43- year old LA Regional Food Bank serves over one million individuals in the area, which includes 400,000 children a year
- Additionally, they’ve partnered with more than 600 agencies to feed more than 320,000 individuals each month
- As a result, the LA Food Bank Distributed over 52 million meals last year
CBD Gives Back
The college is expecting an overwhelming amount of goodwill to help benefit the Food Bank during this season of giving. Incidentally, CBD Gives Back has a goal to collect a total of 400 pounds of food. Furthermore, all food donated will be distributed directly to charitable agency sites throughout the county of Los Angeles. We can do it!
From November 1st-22nd, Food Bank– labeled bins will be stationed in the Student Lounge, Lobby, and the Student Center/ Career Services for students, faculty, and staff to place their non-perishable donations. Such items include canned vegetables and fruit, shelf-stable lean meats, oatmeal and crackers, and even low fat shelf-stable dairy products. Monetary donation forms will also be available for anyone who wishes to participate. Ultimately, the idea is to provide healthy alternatives for those with limited financial resources to obtain the nutrients all our bodies need. This opportunity will certainly be a course for giving thanks.
